Traveling with EuroTrip Adventures to Disneyland & Paris was, most of all, fun! Amusement parks are kind of my thing, so when I get a chance to ride some of the best thrills, I am game for anything.
Disneyland
The excitement from everyone on the bus when we saw this sign was unbelievable. Kids were happy, and I think the adults were even happier. Feelings of nostalgia appear when you arrive at the happiest place on earth!
When you enter Disneyland Paris, you have the opportunity to go to two different parks. I chose to go to Walt Disney Studios because I heard they had the best coasters, and I will say that I was not disappointed with the selection.
Say Hi
As soon as I got inside, Mickey was there to greet me. If you get the chance to see Mickey, don’t forget to wave at him. It’s only the polite thing to do; plus, he is iconic. You also have the ability to get your photo opp. with Mickey once you enter the park. There are MANY photo opportunities with all of the Disney characters, but buyer beware, it is a bit expensive.
Going up…. And down
The first thing that I rode was the Hollywood Tower of Terror. This ride was definitely giving me Twilight Zone vibes. Imagine a creepy little ghost girl telling you to get out every chance she could, and then dropping to your death, not once, not twice, but about twelve times!! I can guarantee you have never experienced gut-wrenching drops like in this tower. I have ridden MANY “drop towers” in my lifetime and will vouch that nothing compares to this.
Gnarly Dude
Drift through the East Australian Current on Crush’s Coaster. This ride was so much fun! I would even put it in my top five. It is an indoor roller coaster that is so smooth, and…. Well, gnarly!! I do recommend riding this first thing because the line does get long, and you will end up waiting a couple of hours. No one likes standing in those pesky lines too long, so make a b-line if you want to avoid it.
HIGHLY Recommended
Now, even though I chose to go to Walt Disney Studios, I HIGHLY recommend that you go to Disneyland. The park is SOOOOO much bigger, and they have a lot more to do. I am a thrill seeker, which is why I went to the Studios, but if you have never been to Disney Paris before, then go to the bigger park. You will never get bored of the scenery there and will have so much fun, especially if you’re traveling kids!
Paris
The next morning we continued our travels to Paris. We were able to enjoy an optional 2-hour bus tour with a local guide. The guide was very knowledgeable and even allowed us to make a few stops to take photos of the top travel destinations. One of those stops was at the Arc De Triomphe. While in Paris, you can purchase tickets to climb the Arc all the way to the top, and get a beautiful view of the “Champs-Elysees,” the shopping street of Paris. On this street, you will find luxury brands like Chanel and Dior.
Our drop off point was the Eiffel Tower. If you aren’t petrified of heights like me, then I recommend buying a ticket to go to at least the second floor (or all the way to the top) and look out at the city.
Palace of Versailles
I have traveled to Paris before, if you couldn’t tell. So, I didn’t do the normal things that a tourist would do. When I went to Paris the first time, I visited all of the must-see places like the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, etc. If it is your first time in Paris, please do these things. You will NOT regret it. During my first visit, the only thing that I was not able to see was the Palace of Versailles because it was a farther train ride (approximately 25 mins). So, when I was able to visit a second time, I took this opportunity to see what I couldn’t the first time. The Palace is EXTRA-vagant, to say the least. Notice the golden gate at the entrance and tell me that this place isn’t fancy.
Gold is not only found here, but all throughout the city of Paris, and inside of the notorious monuments. The structures are not completely made of gold, but ‘only’ coated in gold-leaf. As our tour guide told us, “We’re rich, but we’re not that rich.”
French Food
Unfortunately, I am here to tell you that French fries are not actually made in France. I know, bummer, right? But there are some very interesting, and oddly delicious, cuisines to try in this city. One of my all-time favorites is the macarons. No matter where you are in France, you should try them. Macarons come in many different flavors, and some of my favorites include raspberry, pistachio, coffee, and vanilla. Honestly, just try one of each flavor, I promise you won’t be disappointed. My husband’s favorite French snack is the baguette. The picture featured is of me holding 5 baguettes…. He loves them that much, and it does not even come close to making a dent in my bank account. You can usually find baguettes for approximately 1-2€.
Lets just say, I am a BIG advocate for trying new foods! I even added “trying new foods” to the travel tips blog. I was a bit skeptical of snails because they just didn’t seem appetizing to me. I tried it anyway, and I am here to let you know that escargot really is delicious. If you get the chance to try them, then just do it because not everyone in the world can say they’ve eaten this delicacy before. Fun fact, the average French citizen eats approximately 500 snails per year. Crazy, I know. No matter where you travel, be sure to try the local cuisine, because if you don’t, then you could miss out on some really delicious food.
